The Applied Photonics Department is developing innovative optical products and services based on its core skills, namely optical amplification and lasers, fibre Bragg gratings, network monitoring and metrology, along with expertise in the aging of optical glasses and in reliability.
These products and services are offered in many application areas, including telecom networks, medicine, manufacturing, sensing, defence, space, aeronautics...
Multitel is currently working on the feasibility of new active and passive methods and instruments to offer such preventive maintenance on PONs.
Multitel objective is to be a first-rank actor in design of next generation, cost effective, fibre based components such as optical amplifiers, ASE sources and fibre lasers. This makes Multitel the ideal partner for companies wishing to develop these kinds of products.
UV-written fibre gratings have caused revolutionary changes in various areas including optical fibre communications, fibre sensors, optical computation and optical information processing. In optical communications, Fibre Bragg Gratings (FBGs) appear as key elements in many components such as optical transmitters, optical amplifiers, dispersion compensators and optical receivers.
Multitel main research orientations are : FBG modelling, design and prototyping of specific FBGs, photosensitive fibre, fibre optic treatment, sensor activity and glasses aging.
