The Image Department of Multitel asbl (Mons, Belgium) is seeking applicants with interest in performing applied computer vision research for the following positions:

Position “2010/08/IMG/HD” : The position is situated at the intersection of the Multimedia and Video Surveillance research areas, with research questions focused on machine learning approaches for robust object detection in aerial/satellite (optical, radar) and infra-red images. Experience with JPEG2000 encoding is a plus.
Position “2009/11/IMG/ME” : The position is situated in the Multimedia Processing area, and provides opportunities for fundamental and applied research, in the field of content-based indexation and retrieval or 3D environnement reconstruction/modelling. Experience in both is a plus.
Position “2010/08/IMG/TR” : The position is situated in the Video Surveillance area, and provides opportunities for applied research. Research questions are mainly dealing with object (humans, cars) detection and (active-)tracking in outdoor context. Experience in real-scale surveillance demonstrator building is a plus.
Position “2010/08/MV” : The open position is situated in the Machine Vision area and provides opportunities for machine vision prototypes/systems development. The research topics are in the field of quality control and video inspection (object detection, pattern recognition, OCR, etc.). Past professional experience in machine vision and knowledge in vision harware (cameras, optics, light, mechanics, etc.) are essential.

The ideal candidates should also have the following qualifications:
1. M.Sc., PhD or equivalent in Computer Vision/Mathematics/Engineering
2. Extensive programming experience in C/C++
3. Solid background in image analysis and applied mathematics
4. Good communication skills in technical writing and presentation (English required)
